Minutes for Friday, February 15, 2008

Present: President Jud Morris, Joe Rhea, Marvin & Myrtle Keizur, Marty Marcus, Allen & Lynette Yanity, Danna Webster, Genevieve Ellis, Andrea Jerabek, Tom & Julie Boardman, Barbara Heard, Claudia Loy, Edie Morgan, Kurt Self, Bek Ashby, Chuck West, Claude Gahard, Lois McMahan, Todd Rosenbach and Don Tjossem.

 

Guest Speakers: Claude Gahard spoke on the Business of Agriculture on the Key Peninsula. He is a member of the Pierce County Fair Board.  He enlightened us all on the state of the agriculture business in Pierce County and the Key Peninsula.  He also advised us of some very interesting taxing changes that may be coming up in the future.

 

Secretary’s Report/Corres: There was no report of the minutes of February 1, 2008.

Treasurers Report: There was no Treasurer’s report, except that the annual dues notices had been sent out.

 

  1. Diversity-Focus-Direction-Impact – Jud passed out the final copy (pink) of the Key Peninsula Business Association 2008 Focus.

 

  1. The Key Peninsula Lions Club will hold their annual Citizen’s of the Year Banquet on Saturday evening, March 22nd.  The cost is $25.00 per person and the social hour will begin at 6:00PM and the dinner will be served at 7:00PM.

 

  1. Saturday, April 12th is the opening day for Little League this year.  The KPBA was thanks for their sponsorship of a team this year. There will be a breakfast from 8:00AM – 12:00PM that day at the Key Peninsula Middle School.

 

  1. The KPBA Annual Dinner will be held in the Whitmore room of the Civic Center on Monday evening, February 25th. Tickets are available from Ruth Bramhall (857-5184) and will cost $22.00 per person.  Reservations should be made by February 12, 2008. 

 

  1. We are looking for someone to host a Spring After Hours program.

 

  1. The Key Peninsula Livable Fair will be held from 10:00AM – 3:00PM on Saturday, May 10th.

 

  1. Tuesday, May 26th from 6:00PM – 8:00PM Andrea Jerabek will conduct a Block Watch Training at the Lake Holiday Clubhouse and anyone is invited to attend.

 

  1. Key Peninsula Fair will be held on July 11, 12, & 13th.
