Minutes for Friday, June 16, 2006

 

Place: Blondie’s Restaurant.  Meeting called to order by President Bek Ashby.

Present: Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Ann Waldo, Marty Marcus, Lois McMahan, Joyce Tovey, Ed Taylor, Ross Bischoff, Jeff Harris, Dexter Reuhl, George Harris, Tara Froode, Chuck West, Dennis Taylor, Bek Ashby, Joe Hendricks, Brian Heaven.

Guest Speakers: Grant Griffin and Jean Boyle gave an interesting talk on the positive aspects of the Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the June 2nd minutes. Treasurer’s Report: The balance on hand is $5143.87.  There was $195 in dues income and a $30 bill for the website maintenance.  Ruth questioned the dues renewal time frame.  Dennis stated the dues are paid per calendar year, Jan.- Dec.  It was decided to discuss this issue at the next business meeting.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. Marketing Committee- The website is moving forward.  An approved membership list is needed.
  2. KP Community Fair – Jeff will organize volunteers to man a booth.

 

New Business:  - None

Individual Reports:

Todd from LPL Financial said it is an exciting time in the market.  Ross said the rhubarb has gone spongy.  Ed’s WestWynd Motel is busy, even in the off months.  Jeff reported the KP Community Council filled 3 positions with a vacant position in area 2.  Lois is having a fundraiser on July 20th in Port Orchard.  Tara has packets of the existing sign codes available.  Dennis handed out surveys from Safe Streets to complete and return.  Chuck reported that emergency preparedness meetings are coming.  Marty has a busy summer schedule with his snakes.  Ann reported the Bay Shore Garden Club’s theme next year would be “Yardening on the Key Peninsula”.  Lynn said Blondie’s is open for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays and has many daily specials.  Bek reported that the fire truck for North Bay Mortgage did a lot of traveling.  Joe handed out web tips.  Barb cautioned everyone to be aware of scams involving money.  Ruth reported that the KP Fair bandwagon would be staged at various locations through the area.  The KP Fair needs help in putting up road signs.  Ruth has raffle tickets.  Marv is now president of the Lions Club and is looking for new members.  Joyce’s Windermere Realty group painted the Community House for Community Service Day.

 

The July luncheon meeting is skipped in favor of the KP Fair.
