Minutes for Friday, Sept. 2, 2005

Present: President Bek Ashby presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall,
Todd Rosenbach, Dennis Taylor, Claudia Loy, Joyce Tovey, Ben Thompson,
Jeff Harris, Ed Taylor, Dick Taylor, Jerry Davis, Ross Bischoff, John Biggs,
June Williams and Marty Marcus.
Meeting called to order at 7:35am
Guest Speakers: None
Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from August 5th. Treasurer’s
Report: Balance on hand is $5002.08. It was MSC to accept the
treasurer’s report and approve the following bills: $1846.73 for North
Woods Graphics, $26.00 for post office box renewal and $256.70 for
website & domain name renewal. Bek explained the final amount of
the North Woods Graphics bill which included the amount received from
the enhanced ads ($over $1000) and the extra brochures printed totaling
4000 each.
Communications: None
Old Business/Committees:
- Marketing Committee- Jeff said the GH
Chamber and Gateway were impressed with our brochure. Bek said the brochure
met both goals of attracting visitors and promoting the businesses. Jeff
discussed brochure distribution and will get the details of a distribution
company. He also suggested using North Woods Graphics for printing individual
business inserts for the brochures. Bek said she will now focus on having
the website look similar to the brochure.
- KP Fair – Ruth reported that the final
report was not available yet and asked that any vendor questionnaires
be turned in. There was much discussion regarding the time of the final
distribution, quality of the fair, group participation, fair date, etc. Bek
said that an upcoming retreat on Oct. 8th will address these
questions and concerns and that the fair board members will return to
their respective organizations and give a report after the retreat.
- KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff
did not attend the last meeting. Ed brought up the subject of a new
luncheon meeting place due to the low attendance of the last speaker
meeting in July.
- KP Community Council – Jeff reported
on a KP Candidates Forum scheduled for Sept. 6th at the KPCC. He
also explained how to register to vote for the community council candidates. Dennis
needs volunteers for the vote count on Sept. 17th at 3:30pm.
- Business/Economic Development Committee
–No report
- Meeting Programs/Speaker List – Dennis
would like to update the speaker list. Give any ideas for topics or speakers
to Dennis.
- Fund Raising Ideas and Comments – There
was a discussion on how much money to raise and a wine tasting grand
opening. Discussion to be continued later.
- St. Anthony’s Hospital – June led a discussion
on the traffic issues with Gig Harbor. The hospital is asking for support.
It was MSC to send a letter of support for the hospital to the mayor
of Gig Harbor.
New Business: None
Individual Reports:
Jeff made a motion to donate $100 to the Red Cross for
the Hurricane Katrina victims. Motion did not pass. An amendment to the
motion was MSC to contribute individually to the KPBA, with the KPBA then
writing a check to the Red Cross for the total donated amount.
