Minutes for Friday, September 16, 2005

Place: Blondie’s Restaurant

Present: Bek Ashby presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Dennis Taylor, Jeff Harris, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Ann Waldo, Marty Marcus, Lois McMahan, Ron Finney, Marlies Van Cise, Ross Bischoff, Michelle Patterson, Scott Gallacher, Ira Spector, Joyce Tovey and Hugh McMillan.

Guest Speakers: Mike Krueger from the Pierce County Planning and Land Services department was the guest speaker.  He urged citizens to attend the meetings regarding the 20-year community plan.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Sept. 2nd. Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $1999.28.  It was MSC to pay $30 for web site maintenance.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. Marketing Committee- Bek would like the website to resemble the brochure.  Bek thanked Hugh McMillan for his pictures that were used in the brochure.
  2. KP Community Council – Jeff reported the candidate’s forum went well.  Another forum is planned for October 18th at 7:00pm at the Civic Center.
  3. KP Comprehensive Plan Committee Report – No report.
  4. KP Community Fair – A retreat is scheduled for October 8th to discuss fair issues.
  5. Gig Harbor Committee Reports – Tourism Committee-Ron Finney reported that would be starting up again soon. Economic Development Committee-No report. Dennis and Jeff reported that the KP Community Services is going through changes.  They will report back from a Sept. 19th board meeting that they will be attending.  Bob Oke will be speaking at the KC Library on Sept. 28th at 7:00pm.
  6. Road Clean Up – No definite date is scheduled yet.

New Business: None

 Individual Reports:

Hugh informed and asked for support for the Peninsula Schools Education Foundation.  There will be a breakfast on Oct. 10th at 7:00am at PHS to support this organization.  Ron is doing a brochure for the KP Civic Center.  Ann reported that the Bay Shore Garden Club is gaining more members.  Marty is involved with the Reptile Amphibian Exhibit.  Barb mentioned a 1-week special 11-month CD (4.15% APY) starting Sept. 26th.  Michelle has great equity loans and said advertising is available on KNBQ’s website or on the air.  Marv is attending a district Lions meeting.  Ross said there’s lots of variety at the park.  Lynn from Blondies said their sign issues are resolved, they have a second restaurant planned, and a deli menu is in the works.  Dennis is working on our guest speakers.  He also mentioned that the new tavern owner has many new ideas.
