Minutes for Friday, Oct 15, 2004

Place: Horseshoe Lk. Restaurant

Present: June Williams presiding. Barb Heard, Dennis Taylor, Ruth Bramhall, Bek Ashby, Marty Marcus, Debra McElroy, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Jeff Harris, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Chuck West, Dr. Roes, Matt Rice, Ed Taylor, Todd Rosenbach, Lois McMahan, Ross Bischoff.

Guest Speakers: Mike Salatino, Chairman of the KP Parks & Rec. District talked about the process of transferring the land from this park district to the Metro Park District before the end of the year, joint meetings, joint insurance and change of tenants on Rocky Creek.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Oct. 1stTreasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $2668.57.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. KP Community Council – Jeff said there was no quorum last meeting.  They will finalize the committees at the next meeting. Angel Guild donated $1000.00.
  2. KP. Fair –There will be a check for the KPBA by the end of the year per Fred.
  3. Business Economic Development – June said this committee has been established for one year now, and they want to continue for another year.
  4. Key Peninsula Community Plan –Fifteen minutes is scheduled at the end of the meetings for public comment.
  5. Road Clean Up –Fred has a copy of the guidelines. June volunteered to organize the clean ups.
  6. Purdy KPBA Welcome Sign – Fred is working on this.
  7. Annual Dinner – Ruth and Chuck volunteered to work on this.  Camp Seymour is recommended.
  8. Luncheon Speakers- Dennis distributed a speaker list recommendation and asked for specifics.
  9. Nomination Committee – Jeff said recommendations would be announced at the Nov. business meeting.
  10. Hwy 16/Key Peninsula Sign – Lois is working on this.
  11. KP News – Ed said they are working on the budget and policies. A special Christmas edition is planned.
  12. Fruit Stand – Dennis said a letter needs to be written stating opposition.

New Business:     

  1. Christmas Tree Lighting – Fred is unable to get the tree and asked for volunteers.  Chuck will ask the Fire Fighters Assoc. to get the tree and the KPBA could then decorate.  It was MSC to run a large ad in the KP News and contribute for decorations.

Individual Reports:

Fred said the Wauna Fire Station would have an open house on Nov. 13th.  The well failed at the Home Fire Station.  The fire department has a surplus fire station, ambulance and engine. Mary reported that the Angel Guild has lots of costumes for Halloween.  Debra said real estate was doing great. Dennis gave a report on the Crime Prevention Task Force and their coordinated efforts with other local groups. Ed said volunteers are needed as officers for the upcoming Civic Center elections. Lois informed us of the various bills she’s worked on and described dealing with the governmental process. Todd is following up on the benefits fair he attended. Matt Rice is running for State House Rep. Pos. 1. Dr. Roes has a new physician working with him.  Marty will be at the Harvest Festival on Oct. 31st. Chuck is working on establishing a skate park at Volunteer Park. Bek said their Great Pen Party winner took a picture from the east coast of Africa.  Ross is downsizing his living quarters.
