Minutes for Friday, Nov. 5, 2004

Present: June Williams presiding. Barb Heard, Dennis Taylor,
Ruth Bramhall, Bek Ashby, Marty Marcus, Debra McElroy, Marv & Myrtle
Keizur, Fred Ramsdell, Ed Taylor, Todd Rosenbach, Ross Bischoff, Terry & Delia
Kaas.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Oct 15th Treasurer’s
Report: Balance on hand is $2668.57.
Old Business/Committees:
- KP Community Council – Dennis reported
that committees have been formed and any volunteers for these committees
are welcome. A public input policy was passed. A request to Terry Lee
for assistance in funding resulted in help by receiving $2500 per year
for the next 4 years from Pierce County.
- KP Fair –Fred reported contracts are
being negotiated. Ed said they are looking to rent office space. Ruth
said five members went to the State Fair Convention in Bellevue a few
weeks ago.
- Business Economic Development – November’s
meeting cancelled. No report.
- Key Peninsula Community Plan –No report.
- Road Clean Up – Next scheduled date is
Saturday, Nov. 20th at 8:00am at the Home Park. Please volunteer
to help keep our roads clean.
- Annual Dinner – Ruth, Todd and Chuck
volunteered to work on this. Camp Seymour is recommended.
- Luncheon Speakers- Dennis distributed
a Tacoma-Pierce County Health Dept. website information page in response
to members concerns about the lack of consistency in rules enforcement
for food issues and how it affects businesses. A speaker on this subject
is planned for a future meeting.
- Nomination Committee – Fred reported
interested parties are: Bek Ashby for President, Dennis Taylor for Vice
President, Marv Keizur for Treasurer. The Secretary position is open
for interested parties. The election will be on December 3, 2004.
- Hwy 16/Key Peninsula Sign – Lois sent
an e-mail on the status of this request. Fred would like to see a sign
on Highway 3 near Allyn also.
- KP News – Marty was concerned about religious
or political articles that were printed and the lack of notification
regarding contents of articles.
- Christmas Tee Lighting – Fred is working
on an ad for the KP News. The date is Dec 5th.
New Business:
- Metro Parks – Ross reported that the
parks would not be involved in the restoration of the Wauna Post Office;
Carol Ridley is not the official speaker for the area trails and the
KP Fair asked for a buyout from the KP Park because of lack of volunteers.
Individual Reports:
Ed would like to see people attend the Civic Center’s annual meeting next Thursday,
Nov. 11th and vote for new board members. Ruth reported that
the Pierce County Arts Commission recognized the Two Waters Arts. Bek said
North Bay Mortgage has 2 new people in the Gig Harbor office. Fred mentioned
the open house on Nov. 13th for Station 1. The annual budget
meeting for the fire dept. is Nov. 8th. Terry is busy at home.
Marv is busy at his home/office location. Debra is getting buyers from
CA. Barb reported the Lakewood Branch of Sound Credit Union opened Nov.
1st. Dennis reported on area crime prevention and the different
strategies used. Todd said there’s good investments out there. Ross said
getting a building permit is costly and time consuming on the peninsula.
Marty is busy at Sedgewick Jr. High School. June has a financial planner
located on site on Monday mornings.
