Minutes for Friday, November

Present: President Bek Ashby
presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Dennis Taylor, Joyce Tovey, Ben Thompson,
Jeff Harris, Ed Taylor, John Biggs, Marty Marcus, Chuck West, Michelle
Patterson, Claudia Loy, Todd Rosenbach, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Ross Bischoff
and Troy Hicks.
Meeting called to order at 7:30am
Guest Speakers: None
Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the
minutes from Oct. 24th. Treasurer’s
Report: Balance on hand is $2950.75. Citizens Against Crime was given
$200 and the KP News will be getting $600 for the Christmas advertisement.
Communications:
Old Business/Committees:
- Marketing Committee- Bek is talking with both Russ at Gig Harbor
Online and Ron at Northwest Graphics regarding our website. Hugh McMillan e-mailed Dennis regarding
the Volksmarch brochure. Dennis is
working on a community reader board for civic & non-profit
organizations to use.
- KP Fair – Bek would like to see the KPBA, as a group, have more
responsibility in the fair, such as securing sponsorship. Since we are out in the community
already, it is an opportunity to network.
John suggested an exhibitors guide with numerous ads at lower costs
and different levels of sponsorship.
There will be a date change (July), better carnival, reduced gate
admission and reduced vendor fees.
Next meeting is Nov. 8th, 6:30pm in the Whitmore Room at
the Civic Center.
- KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff reported the requests for modifications
and rezoning have wrapped up. Mike
Kruger will be presenting recommended zonings at the Nov. 16th
meeting. Ross said there is a more
representing attitude now.
- KP Community Council – Election of officers will take place next
Wednesday. A retreat is
planned. A discussion of the
critical area ordinances will take place at the Nov. 17th
meeting, with Terry Lee.
- Christmas Tree Lighting – Chuck is getting the schools involved
with the KPMS Jazz Band and Choir performing. This is Fred & Mary Ramsdell’s last
year for participation. Help is
needed for decorating the tree Saturday morning, Dec. 3rd at
10:00am.
- Skate Park- The dinner/auction is Nov. 12th and seats
are still available with numerous item donations still coming in. Visa purchases available and desserts
will go to the highest bidders.
Help is needed at the door and purchase table.
- Budget Committee – Dennis said a policy needs to be established
for donations. Joyce, Jeff, Dennis
and Bek will have a final version next month. Jeff said the CAC needs to let us know
what their plan is for patrolling the area businesses.
- Nomination Committee – Ruth reported the interested parties are:
Bek Ashby for President, Jeff Harris for Vice President, Dennis Taylor for
Treasurer and Michelle Patterson for Secretary.
- Road Clean Up – Scheduled for tomorrow, Nov. 5th,
8:00am. Meet at Home Park.
- Annual Dinner – Todd and Ruth presented ideas that were discussed
with Blondies Restaurant. The Camp
Seymour location and parking issues were also discussed. Todd and Ruth will continue to research
a location. Members present voted
to not have a guest speaker. An
idea for a silent auction to help defray costs was suggested.

Individual Reports:
Marty’s snakes were a hit on Halloween at the Civic
Center. Ross said the Park Board has an
open meeting on Nov. 21st for discussion of the DNR 360 acres. Michelle has new staff at Key Bank in Purdy
and Key for Women is next Wed. Barb said
“shared branching” is coming to Sound Credit Union in January. John said the Swing Fever band from Belfair
was great. Joyce said business is
slowing a bit. Marv said the Lions Club
has their own web page. Todd provides
small business retirement plans. Claudia
said SunnyCrest is gearing up for the holidays.
Ed’s staff is up to par. Ruth is
volunteering at Minter Creek through the Communities in Schools. Jeff doesn’t encourage strip
development. Dennis invited people to
attend the next KP Comm. Services board meeting on Nov 21st at
10:00am to see what’s going on, especially in finances. Bek said rates are up, but still are
low. She found 100% financing for
rentals for a client.
