Minutes for Friday, November 3, 2006

 

Place: Homeport Restaurant

Present: President Bek Ashby presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Dennis Taylor, Ed Taylor, Marty Marcus, Laurie Ellis, Claudia Loy, Tara Froode, Dennis Taylor, Chuck West, Ross Bischoff, and Joyce Tovey.

Meeting called to order at 7:30am.

 

Guest Speakers: None

Secretary’s Report: It was MSC to approve the minutes from October 20, 2006 with the correction of listing Jud Morris of the Children’s Home Society is in attendance.

 

Treasurers Report:

Balance on hand:        4381.82

 

Business/Committees:

 

Budget Committee: The attending membership approved the 2007 budget as presented. There was one vote in opposition.

 

Annual Dinner: The committee will proceed with the plans. The dinner is scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2006 and will likely be at Blondie’s. Silent auction items are encouraged from members of the association. An interactive activity was discussed as an ice breaker for the evening.

 

Christmas Tree Lighting: Dr. Olsson will be decorating the tree on Friday, December 1. Volunteers are welcome. The tree lighting begins at 4:00 on Sunday, December 3, 2006. Volunteers should be there at approx 3:30 pm.

 

Community Fair: Pictures taken at the fair were entered at the state fair convention. The fair won recognition for its website. The fair awarded certificates to donors contributing $1500 or more. All donors were pleased with the recognition.  

 

KP Comprehensive Plan Report: Sign codes were discussed. The present sign code is less restrictive than Gig Harbor. The next meeting will be at 7:00pm on 11/16/06 at the library, and will likely see some formalization of the discussion. It is important for business owners to attend! The committee will be addressing architectural design issues soon.

 

KP Community Council: Bard Trotter is the new president. Officers for all the positions were installed. There is still a council seat open for District 1.

 

Gig Harbor Chamber Committee Report: The debate series were well received. MultiCare will present next Thursday at Cottesmore. The presentation will begin at 7:30. Breakfast begins earlier.

 

Individual Reports:

Bek Ashby: North Bay has some great new sweatshirts! Santa Claus will be at North Bay Mortgage on Monday and Wednesday, the week prior to, and week of Christmas, from 4 to 6. It is still a good time to consider locking in interest rates if you currently hold a variable rate mortgage.

 

Barb Heard: Sound Credit Union is offering a special incentive loan for energy efficient automobile purchases. Sound continues to offer an attractive home equity loan as well.

 

Ruth Bramhall: Fair volunteers are needed.

 

Dennis Taylor: Nothing to add.

 

Ed Taylor: Looking forward to an afternoon meeting for annual water system inspection.

 

Marty Marcus:Spent last Saturday presenting at a library in Everett. Also recently participated in the Halloween party at the Civic Center. The calendar continues to be full.

 

Laurie Ellis: Traditionally a slower time of the year in the accounting business, and that is true for this year as well.      

 

Claudia Loy: Christmas arrives at Sunnycrest next week. The nursery is wrapping up what might be its best year ever. Plans for the Flavor of Fall are under way for next year.

 

Tara Froode: Had to leave early…

 

Chuck West: Will be making visits, Along with Scott Gallacher, to local skate parks. There is a meeting scheduled for 11/15/06 at the Key Center Fire Station, beginning at 7 pm to discuss a  smaller scale skate park to be built at Volunteer Park.

Fire Department: EMS levy passed. The department will add a new medic very soon. There is a new hire temporary position currently manning the front desk.

 

Ross Bischoff: The commissioners have selected a new board member form four candidates. The Bischoff Farm is gearing up for Peninsula High’s Annual Winter Fest.

 

Joyce Tovey: A good month for Windermere Key Realty, unusual for this time of year. The office recently closed on the Vaughn Church/school building. Joy and Chuck are currently participating on the school district’s capital projects committee. Substantial growth is forecast for the Key Peninsula.
