Restaurant since they are opening on November 15th or there
abouts. Camp Seymore is useable but
access is difficult. Camp Easter Seal an
idea. Consensus is stay on Key Pen. Catering a possibility. Lutheran Church discounted as no alcohol a

NEW BUSINESS:
Nominations- time to form elections
committee. Barb and Todd have formed
small committee, Ruth joined it.
Alternative Meeting Times- Lunch meeting
difficult to make. What about a week
nite? One hour long. Business owners finding breakfast meeting and
lunch meetings tough to get away for.
We’ve increased membership- started with 40 now to almost 75. Time to get these people to come to meetings
if can come to consensus of when.
After hours is getting more popular. Shows that evening meeting perhaps most
viable option.
Danna: is there a way to conduct executive style
meetings in order to focus on issues?
Greg: There’s so much business coming out here,
whether or not we are prepared for it.
People looking for venues to conduct business but we need the
association to direct growth. South Hill
in Puyallup is a prime example of ‘growth gone wild’ and without
direction/planning. Within two years
we’ve seen massive growth. We should as
an association put a group together to find what it is we need to do. I’ve talked to a number of businesses about
changes. I suggest we start acting like
the association should ie the Harvest Festival, which was lead by the Trillium
Winery. It was extremely successful. At the debrief at the Aloha, many of the
faces were unknown to me. But these
people want to do business, but don’t want to waste time with nonsense
meetings. In order to manage change and
Marty: It
would be most helpful to have an agenda ahead of time.
Claudia: I
don’t feel that the position of co-chair of presidency is very effective. Quite the opposite, it is ineffective.
John B.:
Greg’s issue is the threshold issue.
Problem is may be time to divide the organization into business and
non-profit, two sides. How do we become
service club and a non-profit?
Ruth: Fair
is non-profit, and business assoc is a member.
Fair broke even. Realize that
attendance will re
Greg: Fair
needs to be self-sustaining. We’re in
business to make a profit. Often,
non-profits get so tangled up in their set of rules that for me, I’m not going
to do benefits again. People won’t mind
paying assoc. dues as long as they see movement in the organization. This group needs to make positive changes, in
order to bring in business to the region.
Key Center is changing. But there
is no commercial land available. Large company’s are going to come in here and
buy large chunks of land, as they already are and will do what ever it is they
want unless we put parameters on that growth and structure this group.
Laurie: We
do need to structure this group.
Greg: I
would like to see all the business owners on this peninsula involved.
John B.:
Unfortunately, goals keep creeping into this organization.
Todd:
Let’s create a sub-committee to create direction.
Claudia:
We need a brainstorming session that doesn’t include non-profit
organizations.
Danna:
Let’s get together in December for a study session.
Consensus:
Evenings best.
