Minutes for Friday, Nov. 19, 2004

Place: Horseshoe Lake Restaurant

Present: June Williams presiding. Barb Heard, Dennis Taylor, Ruth Bramhall, Bek Ashby, Marty Marcus, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Ed Taylor, Todd Rosenbach, Joyce Tovey, Jeff Harris, Chuck West, Keith Stiles, Eric Nelsen, Lois McMahan.

Meeting called to order at 12:10pm

Guest Speakers: Rob Orton and Lisa Raysby from Peninsula Light gave an interesting talk ranging from the history of Peninsula Light to certain aspects of the water services division.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Nov. 5. Treasurer’s Report: No report.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. KP Community Council – Jeff reported that the council is wrapping up the process issues and that the potential grant from Pierce County will help greatly.
  2. KP Fair –Fred reported that even with the rain, a profit was made, although not at much as the previous year. Attendance was good up until the rain.  Volunteers are needed, even in the executive positions.
  3. Business Economic Development –No report.
  4. Key Peninsula Community Plan –Jeff urged everyone to attend the open house on Dec. 14th at the Key Center Fire Station from 4-7pm.
  5. Road Clean Up – With the roads cleaned earlier in the week by the county, clean up was cancelled.
  6. Annual Dinner – Ruth reported the date is January 17, 6:00pm at Camp Seymour. Cost is $15 per person, which includes wine. Dinner choices are swiss steak or salmon.  Prepay to Ruth.
  7. Christmas Tee Lighting – The tree will be put up by the firefighters on Dec. 4th at 10:00am. Volunteers are needed for decorating. Chuck is planning the entertainment and Ruth is planning the refreshments.
  8. Election Committee – The nominations for officers are: Bek Ashby for President, Jeff Harris for Vice President, Dennis Taylor for Treasurer, and Barb Heard for Secretary.  The election will be on December 3, 2004.

New Business:  None

Individual Reports:

Todd reported that good investments are available. Barb is excited about the current Visa & HELOC promos as Sound Credit Union. Bek said there are 4 new loan officers at their Gig Harbor location of North Bay Mtg. Fred said the dedication of the Wauna Fire Station went well. Mary said the Angel Guild’s last day before holiday clean up is Dec. 18th.  Marty joked that he had a python in his car. Keith reminded everyone that KGHP radio station runs 24/7. Ed wanted to know what is happening to the Lakebay Lumber site? June informed everyone of their new Money Market product at Key Bank. Joyce said that Windermere Realty is a collection point for coats, mittens, scarves & blankets for the holiday party that LuLu’s Homeport Restaurant sponsors.  Ruth had very nice 2005 calendars for sale from Two Waters Arts Alliance.
