Minutes for Friday, November 18, 2005

Place: Blondie’s Restaurant.  Meeting called to order at 12:20pm.

Present: Bek Ashby presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Dennis Taylor, Jeff Harris, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Ann Waldo, Marty Marcus, Lois McMahan, Michelle Patterson, Joyce Tovey, Mary Graves, Ed Taylor and Jerry Davis.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Nov. 8th. Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $2950.75.  Upcoming major expense will be the Christmas ad in the KP News.  Dennis explained the costs associated with our website for maintenance and hosting.  It was MSC to pay the $30 monthly website maintenance fee to RS Enterprises and $96.71 to godaddy.com for 2006 hosting site (paid a year in advance).  It was MSC to increase the dues by $5.00 in each category, starting in 2006.  The annual dues would be as follows:  Business-$65.00 Individual-$35.00 Multiple Site-$95.00.  Jeff led a discussion on the donation policies that the budget committee is working on, which included the difference between sponsorship and donations.  Sponsorship would be the Little League ($500) and Scholarship ($500).  Donations ($500) would require an application and would need to meet specific guidelines. These items will be presented in hard copy form, along with the 2006 budget at the next meeting. 

Old Business/Committees:

  1. Marketing Committee- Bek said the website is moving slow but making progress.  Those who bought an ad in the brochure will be listed in the text on the website.  There are also opportunities for other businesses to be listed and have links to their websites.  The focus is on services available for residents and to attract tourists.
  2. KP Community Council – Jeff is pleased with the new board of directors.
  3. KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff reported they are going through each rezone request, with most being turned down.  A campground zone is being discussed.
  4. KP Community Fair – Mary reported the date has changed to July 20-23 with a Youth Night planned for Thursday involving a top rated carnival.  Agri-Vision will be enhanced with Jerry Davis’s help.  Admission fee will be $1.00 and live bands for Teen Night are planned.
  5. Gig Harbor Committee Reports – Tourism Committee-Ed reported their new chairman has a good plan for the future.  Both Ed and Mary said communities need to develop their assets.  Economic Development Committee-No report.
  6. Road Clean Up – Marty, Barb, Michelle and Michelle’s son participated on Nov. 5th.
  7. Annual Dinner – Ruth reported the dinner would be at Camp Seymour on January 16th.  Three meats and a shuttle will be available.  Todd will have the invitations ready by the next meeting.  It was MSC to charge $20 per person.  Ed suggested setting aside $300 for a strolling magician.  Todd suggested extra money could go towards another scholarship.

New Business:  - None

Individual Reports:

Jerry mentioned the difficulty getting hay across the mountains. Ed reported on the crime spree in the area. Watch out for a blue truck with a broken back window.  Lois had a successful social and mentioned the Extreme Makeover house in her area. Todd said short term fixed income investments has rising interest rates.  Marv encouraged everyone to drop off their old eyeglasses for third world countries at collection boxes located at Sound Credit Union and the KC Health Center. Marty reported on a special turtle that can weigh 150 lbs. Joyce said Windermere Realty is getting ready for Holiday Helper at Childrens Home Society and her bldg was broken into recently. Dennis reported he has secured a site on the Purdy Spit for a welcome sign/community board. Jeff reported artbeads.com has 100 employees. Bek said North Bay Mtg. bought a fire truck.
