  1. Road Clean Up – The next scheduled date is Saturday, June 9th; 8:00am at Home Park.  Bret, Marty and Barb volunteered.  More volunteers are needed. Barb will handle the equipment.
  2. Marketing the KPBA – Some ideas and suggestions following Mike Boyle’s (North Bay Mortgage) presentation from the last luncheon meeting included: a shop local card similar to Allyn’s was suggested by Tara, Todd emphasized getting name presence out, with our brochures being a good example, Joyce suggested expanding our “active” membership.  A committee was formed to include Claudia, Tara, Todd, Ruth and Chuck.  They will meet starting in June.
  3. KP Livable Community Fair – Bret is taking names for volunteers to man the booth.  Your business brochures or giveaways for the booth can be dropped off with Joyce, Tara or Bret.
  4. KP Planning Board – Tara & Chuck reported that plans (20 year growth plan) are wrapped up and going to the Planning Commission.  Plans are on the website.
  5. KP Community Council – No report.
  6. KP Fair – Final placement and layout will take place at the next meeting.  Ruth reported that sponsorships are coming in and free booths start at the $1500 level.  Thursday night Youth Night and entertainment is coming along.  Volunteers are needed for putting up road signs.  Booths are going for last year’s prices.

New Business:

  1. Blondies Restaurant – They are 99% sure they are moving to the past Beach House location in Purdy and will probably then close the Key Center location.  A new location would be needed for our luncheon meetings.
  2. Fire Department Commissioners – It was suggested that the KPBA support a recall, although a recall is costly.  John suggested expanding their board to 5 members.  It was MSC that the KPBA take a proactive position on this subject.  It was MSC that the KPBA write a letter to the Gateway, KP News and Fire Dist. 16 Commissioners supporting the fire department and a separate letter asking for the resignation of the two fire commissioners involved.  Joyce and John will write the letter and give to the executive board for final approval.  Chuck West recused himself from this discussion.
  3. Luncheon Meetings – Todd feels these meeting are getting too long with business.  He suggested that after introductions, present the guest speaker and cut back on the motions.
