Minutes for Friday, May 19th, 2006

 

Place: Blondie’s. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm.

Present: Bek Ashby presiding. Joe Rhea, Sharon Hamilton, Leif Hanson, Ed Taylor, Jeff Harris, Marty Marcus, Ann Waldo, Phil Bauer, Ruth Bramhall, Tara Froode, Lois MacMahan, Al Yanity, Barbara Heard,  and Lynn Marshall.

           

Secretary’s Report: It was msc to approve the minutes for 05/05/2006 with a minor amendment.

 

Treasurer’s Report: There were no outstanding bills to report.  Member dues totaling $315.00 were collected.

 

Bills paid included:

Monthly Website maintenance: $30.00

 

Current balance: $4955.63                                                                         

 

 

Guest Speakers: Legislative Update with Patricia Lantz (Please note: Both Derrick Kilmer and Bob Oke were invited, but were unable to attend).

 

Patricia Lantz shared her perspective on the state legislature’s successes during their recently completed session. She focused on issues with specific impact to the local community as well as those with statewide implications.

 

Business/Committee Reports:

It was msc to address the association’s business and committee reports at the upcoming breakfast meeting on Friday, June 02, 2006.

 

Individual Reports:

 Joe Rhea: Business continues to be brisk at Lake Kathryn.

 

Sharon Hamilton: Gig Harbor Online is making great progress on the new website. Links will be provided to each member’s website as well as their e-mail.

 

Leif Hanson: Camp Seymour recently completed a successful Mother’s Day Camp. The Camp is now accepting online applications. Enrollment is up significantly.

 

Ed Taylor: Business continues to be good.

 

Marty Marcus: It is a busy time of the year. The Pacific Science Center is on the July schedule, as well as five summer presentations at various Pierce County Libraries.

 

Ann Waldo: Ellen Beltz, the author of Frogs, will be at the Key Center Library on Thursday, June 22. Remember to attend the upcoming dinner and dance at the Civic Center.

 

Phil Bauer: The upcoming dance at the Civic Center looks to be a great one (See date and time above).

 

Ruth Bramhall: Several improvements have been made to the bandwagon. More sponsorship for the fair is coming in. The fair can always use more volunteers. Put the Longbranch Community Church’s Annual Salmon Bake on your summer calendar.

 

Tara Froode: Business is steady. There appeared to be a strong crowd at the Livable Community Fair.  

 

Lois MacMahan: Enjoyed the Livable Community Fair. Recently had a successful fundraiser held at the Miracle Ranch. There is an upcoming business meeting at the Pancake House in Pt Orchard.

 

Al Yanity: The Livable Community Fair was great.

 

Barbara Heard: The branch recently hosted Sound’s President, Rick Brandsma, who made his annual visit to Key Center. Sound Credit Union is looking at possible expansion opportunities.

 

Lynn Marshall: The restaurant is seeing gradual business growth. The Mother’s Day Brunch was a success. Blues Night is every Tuesday.
