KEY PENINSULA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

Minutes for Friday, March 3, 2005

Place: Homeport Restaurant

Present: Bek Ashby presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Jeff Harris, Marty Marcus, Dennis Taylor, Ed Taylor, Terry & Delia Kaas, Joyce Tovey and Claudia Loy.

Meeting called to order at 7:30am.

Guest Speakers: None

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Feb. 18th. Treasurer’s Report: It was MSC to approve March expenses. Balance on hand is $6278.81.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. Marketing Committee- Bek reported that Lois is working on a certificate of membership for members.  Jeff discussed brochure ideas. Small business workshops were discussed.  Bek and Jeff will be meeting with our web site host.  A business expo, speaker list and after hours socials were discussed.
  2. KP Fair – It was MSC that Bek Ashby would fill the vacancy on the KP Fair board by representing the KPBA.  Ruth reported the KPBA will have a booth at the fair and special pins commemorating the KP Fair will be sold at the fair store.
  3. KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff questioned whether the KPBA should endorse the natural environmental policies as an association.
  4. KP Community Council – Joyce said the second part of their workshop would be held Saturday and that the council would like to hear from the community in general.
  5. Business/Economic Development Committee –Bek reported on funding needed for Highway 302 and the possibility of no future permanate burn ban on the Key Peninsula.
  6. Road Clean Up – Next scheduled day would be sometime in May.
  7. Livabale Community Fair – Bek would like to start marketing our website at the fair.

New Business:

1.       Volunteer Park Sign – It was MSC to have the KPBA sign at the ballpark updated at a cost of $75.00.

2.       Metro Parks – Ed reported a professional director has been hired for the park.

Individual Reports:

Ed reported the Westwynd Motel is getting new managers and also caught some crooks.  Ruth said the Two Waters Arts had a successful Spring Fling event. Their current brochure is now available.  Terry & Delia said their 5-year plan is working.  Barb reported that Sound Credit Union is financially strong and may put a branch in Port Orchard in the future.  Joyce said Windermere Realty had the best month ever in February. Todd reported that investments are good.  Marty has programs lined up from Marysville to Chelan.  Bek said North Bay Mortgage specializes in non-conforming mortgages.
