Minutes for Friday, June 4,

Dennis Taylor, Marty Marcus, Nancy Lind, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Joyce Tovey,
Ruth Bramhall, John Biggs.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: MSC to approve the minutes
from 0521/04. Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $4051.54
Old Business/Committees:
- Community Council – There are several local locations where survey
boxes are located for entering registrations for the June 26th
vote. Almost 300 people are
currently registered. There is a
full slate of candidates from all districts. Candidates running for office
were named.
- KP Fair – Fred said fair volunteers are riding a hay wagon in the
Maritime Gig Parade tomorrow. The
Thursday night Youth Night is still planned per Dennis.
- Metro Park District – Ruth attended the last meeting. They need
more people from the public sitting in the audience. Meetings are the 2nd
& 4th Monday of the month at 7:00pm in the park annex. It will take about 3 months to turn over
the old park district.
- Business Economic Development – June relayed information from the
May 18th meeting. They
would like to see the Chamber of Commerce’s (5) in Pierce County meet to
discuss common issues.
- KP News – We discussed the newspapers’ independency from the Civic
Center, sponsor mailing privileges, political articles and advertising.
- Road Clean Up –Scheduled for July.
- Gig Harbor Hospital – June will be attending the June 14th
meeting. Give her any thoughts or
ideas to mention at the meeting (ie: adequate parking & valet
parking).
- Wauna Post Office – Nancy has a presentation almost ready to
present to the Metro Park Board for restoring the post office. Next meeting
for Friends of the Wauna Post Office is June 15, 7:00pm at the Civic
Center.
New Business:
- Two Waters Arts Alliance- Ruth said a fundraiser is planned for
this month and a scarecrow-building contest is coming in July, donations
of materials are needed.
- Salmon Bake- The Longbranch Church is sponsoring a salmon bake on
July 24.
- KPBA Sign – The sign at the Purdy spit needs painting and the area
needs weeding. Fred said he’d cut
the weeds. John will check with Terry Kaas on getting the sign painted.
Individual Reports:
- Fred said the Wauna Fire Station got their occupancy permit. 2.
Mary said the Angel Guild was not broken into, but the dentist office was.
3. June said they have a new front desk person at Key Bank. 4. Nancy
reported on the Trail Committee and showed the kayaking & auto tour
books for sale. 5. Ruth is taking a tour of the new operating rooms at
Tacoma General Hospital & Mary Bridge. 6. John mentioned the extreme
low tides today and July 6. 7. Marv is working on their new office. 8. Joyce said business is good. 9. Marty
said Camp Seymour’s fame is spreading all the way to Idaho.
