Secretary’s Report: It was MSC to approve the meeting minutes dated 06/01/07.

Treasurer’s Report: The balance on hand is 5643.45

Bills to be paid: $30.00 to RS Enterprises for website maintenance

Guest Speaker: Pastor Heinz Malon, Pastor of the Key Peninsula Lutheran Church

Pastor Malon shared information regarding Disaster Preparedness on the Key Peninsula. The Key Peninsula Lutheran Church is working closely with Pierce County in developing a community-wide plan.

Pastor Malon briefly reviewed the Church’s response to this past winters’ storm, including the numerous successes experienced. He then presented plans in process, resources acquired, and a vision for plan completion.

Present efforts include coordination of community support and government resources, building an alternative communication infrastructure, and planning for a scenario where the Peninsula is cut off from outside support.

KPBA Business:

Highway Clean Up: There was a good turn out and a job was well done. All participants were treated to breakfast.

Request for KPBA Funding: Dennis Taylor, representing Livable Key 2020, applied for a grant from the KPBA to support the cost of developing a forum addressing the livability of the Key Peninsula as we face the future.  The membership expressed a number of conflicting opinions.

KPBA Brochure:  A reprinting of the KPBA’s brochure will cost approx. $1500.00 for 2000 brochures, and $1700.00 for 3000 brochures if purchased from Northwoods Graphics, the brochure’s original designer.

Harbor Printing gave a more competitive bid (2000 for $760.00 & 3000 for $1000.00), but might assume that the KPBA owns the designs created by Northwoods. At present, it is unclear as to whether or not this is the case.

Key Peninsula Community Fair: Bek is coordinating the Key Peninsula Business Association booth this year. Drop off brochures at LPL Financial Services in Key Center. Sponsorship has gone well. Tickets are available at  Sound Credit Union, Sunnycrest Nursery, and the  Little Beach Hut in Home.

Individual Reports:

Marty Marcus:  In the process of scheduling for the Key Peninsula Community Fair Booth, the Olalla Blue Grass Festival, and Old Timers’ Day.

Bret  Nebel: Bensco’s primary business divisions are Programming, Network Security,  and Indoor Air Quality and Health Solutions.

Joe Rhea: Lake Kathryn is slowly approaching requirements for the stop light at the intersection.

Jud Morris: Peninsula High School earned 17 varsity letters for community service, one of the strongest showings in the area.

Al Yanity: The Fire Commissioners are continuing to do get business done on behalf of the fire department.

Marvin Keizur: The business has been busy dealing with tax extensions for clients.  Remember to give the Lions Club a try. The Lions meet monthly at Blondie’s.

Genevieve Ellis: Ellis Accounting will likely be moving in the next month or so. Keep posted for the business’ new location.

Marlise Van Cise: Alaska Airlines offered a special 1 day promotion on June 1.  $ 210 round trip tickets to Hawaii were available for one day only.

Ruth Bramhall:  Remember to purchase your tickets for the Longbranch Church’s Annual Salmon Bake on July 28th. Tickets can be purchased at Sunny Crest Nursery, Coast Hardware, Charbonneau’s Construction, the Home Store, the Longbranch Marina, or by contacting Ruth Bramhall.

Lois McMahan: Three initiatives are in circulation addressing property rights, taxation, and governmental funding services to illegal aliens. Please review these initiatives and consider supporting them.

Claude Gahard: Trillium is proud to carry Estrella Cheese, a truly handcrafted local product. Let’s get a bakery out here! Remember to shop locally.

Barbara Heard: Sound Credit Union now has full service business accounts available.

Laurie Jones:  The summer weather usually brings more business to the Little Beach Hut. There are some new items on the menu. Several new machines have been added to the laundry mat.

Bek Ashby: It’s still a good time to move your adjustable rate mortgage to a fixed rate. Remember to talk to North Bay Mortgage. Interest rates have moved upward recently and it appears they may to continue to do so in the short term. Be sure to come to Port Orchard’s Fathoms of Fun on June 30th. North Bay Mortgage and the fire truck will be there!

Lynn Marshall:  Lynn has taken over the cooking at Blondie’s. Lisa is managing the bar. Blondie’s would like to add a second location in the Harbor.

Respectfully Submitted,
