Minutes for Friday, July 1, 2005

Present: Vice President Jeff Harris presiding. Barb Heard,
Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Dennis Taylor, Debra McElroy, Claudia Loy,
Joyce Tovey, Michelle Patterson, Marv & Myrtle Keizur.
Meeting called to order at 7:35am
Guest Speakers: None
Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from June 17th. Treasurer’s
Report: Balance on hand is $3428.25.
Communications: None
Old Business/Committees:
- Marketing Committee- Jeff reported that
the brochure is taking a narrative approach. He would like the committee
to be able to make some final decisions regarding the brochure. Clarification
of enhanced listing price was discussed. A meeting to review and comment
on the draft brochure is scheduled for July 8th, 8:00am at
Windermere Realty in Key Center. The July After Hours was changed to
Thursday, July 21st, 6:00pm at Sunnycrest Nursery. Donations
will be accepted for hors d’ oeuvres and beverage menu. Please RSVP
to Claudia at 884-3937.
- KP Fair – Ruth reported that flyers were
mailed to vendors. Sponsorship money is coming in. A new director was
chosen. The free booth for KPBA members will be shared with others.
- KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff
reported the next meeting would be Wednesday, July 6th at
7:00pm at the KC Library.
- KP Community Council – Jeff reported
that the council would use the abbreviated name of KPC so as not to get
confused with the Key Peninsula Civic Center (KPCC). The council will
be facilitating a community meeting concerning blighted properties, logging
issues and critical area ordinances. The next two meeting will be at
the KC Library, the second Wednesday of each month. There are candidate
openings for the upcoming election on Sept. 17th. Call 884-0557
or 884-4697 for an application.
- Business/Economic Development Committee
–No report.
- Lunch Meeting Place – A good faith effort
by Blondie’s improved conditions. A discussion ensued regarding a simplified
menu special with two items with an $8 -$10 price range.
- Road Clean Up – Michelle will organize
the clean up. A date of August 13 has been chosen for the next clean
up in Home. Please volunteer.
- Speakers – Dennis reported that Derek
Kilmer, Pat Lantz and possibly Bob Oke would speak at the next meeting
giving a legislative update. September’s guest speaker would be Mike
Kruger. A proposed local business expo and a marketing speaker are planned
for the future.
New Business: None
Individual Reports:
Dennis reported that code enforcement is concerned about the Key Center Saloon
parking lot. Terry Lee visited a smoke shop in Gig Harbor and would be
seeking ordinances city and county wide to ban some items sold in these
shops. Claudia has planned another Lavender Tour for July 15th. Ruth
has Salmon Bake tickets available. Joyce reported that Windermere Realty
painted a building at Volunteer Park for their community service day. Todd
has completed a class, which now allows him to give fee-based advice, which
helps his business grow. Marv recommended the Davenport Hotel in Spokane
for a luxurious stay. Michelle reported altered and counterfeit money
being passed in the area. Debra also writes poetry. Jeff is volunteering
at the Tall Ships event. Barb said Sound Credit Union now is processing
loans with a system called Stream Lend.
