Minutes for Friday, January 18, 2008

 

Place: El Sombrero

Present: President Jud Morris, Joe Rhea, Marvin & Myrtle Keizur, Marty Marcus, Allen Yanity, Magnus Nilsen, Tara Froode, Frank Shirley, Danna Webster, Debra McElroy, Dianna Home, John Biggs and Vicki Biggs, Scott Gallagher, Bek Ashby, Bret Nebel, Chuck West, Claude Gahard, Ed Taylor, Darlene Espinoza-Picon, Lois McMahan, Jim Renfro, Marlies Van Cise, Todd Rosenbach and Don Tjossem.

Guest Speakers:  Lynn Simonson, the Community Relations Officer of Pierce County Transit and his assistant, Tim Renfro.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from January 4, 2008.

Treasurers Report: It was MSC to approve the Treasurer’s report and approve the 2008 budget.

KPBA Business

  1. Key Peninsula Brochures were passed out!  3000 have been printed and are presently being distributed. 

 

  1. Diversity-Focus-Direction-Impact – Jud passed out and discussed the results and direction of the 2008 FOCUS group was explained and discussed

 

  1. Frank Shirley advised the membership of the new TOASMASTERS group that meets weekly on Wednesdays at noon in the Brones room at the Library.  He encouraged all to attend and participate.

 

  1. The Key Peninsula Lions Club will hold their annual Citizen’s of the Year Banquet on Saturday evening, March 22nd.  The cost is $25.00 per person and the social hour will begin at 6:00PM and the dinner will be served at 7:00PM.

 

  1. Saturday, April 12th is the opening day for Little League this year.  The KPBA was thanks for their sponsorship of a team this year.

 

  1. The Hunger Banquet will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at the Longbranch Improvement Club.  Thicket
  2. February Lunch Meeting (February 15)-Meeting will be at El Sombrero.
  3. The KPBA Annual Dinner will be held in the Whitmore room of the Civic Center on Monday evening, February 25th. Tickets are available from Ruth Bramhall (857-5184) and will cost $22.00 per person.  Reservations should be made by February 12, 2008. 
  4. It was MSP to fund two Peninsula High School scholarships for $500.00 each for graduates of the class of 2008, as we have in the past.
