Minutes for Friday, February 2, 2007

 

Place: Homeport Restaurant

Present: Vice President Claudia Loy presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Marty Marcus, Tara Froode, Laurie and Genevieve Ellis, Joyce Tovey, Ross Bischoff, Don Tjossem, Mike Salatino, John Biggs, Tricia Robins, Kurt Self, Bret Nebel, Sheryl Mirenta and Todd Rosenbach.

Meeting called to order.  Introductions were made.

Guest Speakers: None

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the amended minutes from January 19, 2007. The amendments included:  The last meeting of the KP Fair Executive Board was attended by two members.

Treasurers Report: It was MSC to approve the bill to Blondies Restaurant for the annual dinner in the amount of $1512.57.  The auction brought in $355 and dues income is $595.00.

Communications:

Presentation:  Mike Salatino informed the group of an upcoming benefit for Phil Radcliffe on Feb. 24th.  He is organizing a Spaghetti Dinner from 2:00-6:00pm.  Monetary contributions for the food and volunteers with health cards are needed.  Contributions can be made at Sound Credit Union.  Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at SunnyCrest or CostLess Pharmacy.

Old Business/Committees:

1.     Annual Dinner – A big thank you to Todd and Ruth for their excellent work on organizing this event.  Good reports came from everyone.

2.     Road Clean Up – A person is needed to pick up the supplies before a scheduled clean up at the county shop in Purdy.  To keep our sign up and active, clean up needs to be scheduled quarterly.  We are looking at a clean up date some time in early March.

3.     Comprehensive Plan Committee – Per Tara, the final review on the sign code will be at the next meeting on Feb. 7th.  The committee supports a provision for a tourist kiosk and welcome signs to the Key Peninsula.

4.     KC Community Council – Although Joyce has not attended lately, she said their meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month.

5.     KP Fair – Ruth reported there might be a tractor exhibit instead of a pull this year.  She has sponsor packets available.

New Business:

1.     Jud’s Agenda – He will present this at the luncheon meeting, emphasizing increased marketing for our businesses. Call him at 884-5433 with your thoughts.

2.     Little League – Kurt Self has sponsorship packets.  March 24 is the breakfast at KPMS with the first pitch following breakfast.  June 15th is the planned date for the end of year dinner.  Fence signs are $325 for new and $200 for renewals

Individual Reports:

Don’s business of professional analysis of chemical dependency and abuse is located in Key Center. Ross reported the Red Cross is having a disaster education meeting.  Laurie & Genevieve are busy with taxes.  Joyce reported that Windermere Realty is moving to the Brookside Restaurant location, with the Key Center location for sale.  John reported on moorage at Longbranch and said the qualifying line will be moving.  Barb mentioned that Sound Credit Union would be emphasizing money market and checking account products.  Bret owns Network Security Solutions, which deal s with computer system security.  Tara has ads with coupons in the KP News for Ravensara.  They also have protein drinks.  Tricia owns Tricia’s Espresso by KC Shell.  Sheryl from KC Computer Repair will recycle monitors & printers to sell.  Marty mentioned a noticeable shortage of night crawler worms, possibly due to an increase in moles.  Claudia sells mole traps at SunnyCrest Nursery.
