Minutes for Friday, Dec. 3, 2004

Place: Homeport Restaurant

Present: June Williams presiding. Barb Heard, Dennis Taylor, Ruth Bramhall, Bek Ashby, Marty Marcus, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Ed Taylor, Jeff Harris, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Debra McElroy, Claudia Loy.

Meeting called to order at 7:30am.

Guest Speakers: None

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Nov. 19th. Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $2638.57.

Old Business/Committees:

  1. KP Community Council – Jeff reported that the council is changing their meeting dates to the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  They are completing the organizing phase and are now anxious to start actually working on things.
  2. KP Fair –Fred reported that election of officers would be at the next meeting.
  3. Business Economic Development –June reported that the last meeting was quite lively and changes are expected to downtown Gig Harbor in the future.
  4. Key Peninsula Community Plan –Jeff urged everyone to attend the open house on Dec. 14th at the Key Center Fire Station from 4-7pm and get involved in the future plans of the Key Peninsula.  There will be of display of work that has been done and other information available
  5. Road Clean Up – Planned for January or February.
  6. Annual Dinner – Ruth reported the date is January 17, 6:00pm at Camp Seymour. Cost is $15 per person, which includes wine. Prepay to Ruth.  Invitations are being mailed after Christmas.  A contract and $180 down payment was needed for the dinner.  It was MSC to provide dinner for two news media people.  Derek Kilmer will be the guest speaker.
  7. Christmas Tee Lighting – The ceremony is planned for December 5th at 4:00pm.
  8. Election Committee – The nominations for officers are: Bek Ashby for President, Jeff Harris for Vice President, Marv Keizur and Dennis Taylor for Treasurer, and Barb Heard for Secretary.  It was MSC to elect the officers for the unopposed positions by unanimous vote.  After a secret ballot vote, it was MSC to elect Dennis Taylor as Treasurer.

New Business: 

1. 2005 Budget – Committee members include: Bek, Ed, Ruth, and Dennis as chairman.

Individual Reports:

Fred warned everyone to be careful since this is the season for more house fires and auto wrecks. He created a new letterhead for the KPBA. Fred said that Santa is coming to Lk.Minterwood on Friday.  Mary said the Angel Guild would have their Bag Sale on Dec. 18th.  Ruth is selling Two Waters Arts calendars for $15. Ed is collecting KP Fair pictures for the website. Marv was nominated by the Republican Congressional Committee for WA St. Businessman of the Year.  Barb mentioned the rise in fraudulent activity this time of year at financial institutions. Debra said they’re doing a lot of land deals and she is also involved in the Peninsula Writers Association. Dennis gave a crime prevention update on the meth drug bust at Horseshoe Lk Estates.  Claudia said the KP Health Center Professional Bldg. is filled up. Bek said North Bay Mortgage is planning an open house at their Gig Harbor office on Dec. 7th.  Marty mentioned salmon enhancement. There will be a meeting on the condition of streams at the Vaughn Civic Center on Dec. 14th at 7:00pm.  June said they have free small business checking accounts at Key Bank.
