Minutes for Friday, December 16, 2005

Place: Blondie’s Restaurant. 

Present: Bek Ashby presiding. Ruth Bramhall, Todd Rosenbach, Dennis Taylor, Marv & Myrtle Keizur, Ann Waldo, Marty Marcus, Lois McMahan, Michelle Patterson, Joyce Tovey, Ed Taylor and Pat Heaven, Lynn Marshall and Jerry Davis.

Guest Speaker: Greg Callaghan, New owner of O’Callaghan’s

                         Cleaned up inside and outside the business.  Working on finishing remodel to include updating kitchen and adding a beer garden with an outside BBQ.  New menu will be comparable to Tides Tavern.  Greg has future plans for the entire corner around O’Callaghan’s.  Any issues contact: Gemaine Watkins, Bar Manager at 884-9766.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the minutes from Dec. 2nd.

Treasurer’s Report:  Balance on hand is $2721.67.  It was MSC to approve three bills: $30 monthly KPBA website maintenance fee; $72.37 Christmas Tree Lighting; $557.82 KP New Christmas Ad. 

Individual Reports:

Ed reported on the crime spree in the area.  Lois has been ‘door knocking’ on the Peninsula. Todd said current CD 3 ½ year term at 5%.  Marv announced Citizen of the Year nominees are being accepted. Marty hibernation continues. Joyce said Windermere Realty robbers have been caught, business is busy. Dennis had to excuse himself early Father is in hospital. Al thanked those who voted for him.  Ruth said the Christmas Tree Lighting had a good turn out; also invitations for KPBA Annual Dinner are being distributed now.  Ann announced Bay Shore Garden Club is offering wreath making classes with a Bonsai class coming soon.  Jerry encouraged everyone to support FFA & 4H by purchasing candy currently being sold at Drive-Thru Feed.    Bek said North Bay Mtg. recently acquired fire truck with Santa & his sleigh will be at North Bay Mortgage this weekend; also, KP News printed ‘old’ KPBA membership list  in error.  Better communication needed next year with KP News to improve accuracy.  Lynn asked for feedback on quieter environment, kitchen had extra insulation put in place, Saturday is 1 year anniversary.   New Year’s Eve dinner to include 5 course dinners with ‘G’ rated comedian out of Seattle.  Tickets are pre-sale only and $55 each. 

Annual Dinner: Blondie’s to contribute wine for the dinner.  Donations are now being accepted for the Silent Auction.

K.P. Fair:  KPBA as a whole to be more involved and active in the Fair.  Starting next year, the Fair will be held the 3rd weekend in July.  Marketing will be out by Memorial Day/1st of June.  Sponsorships will be solicited starting in January 2006.  It was suggested to possibly start a new category for sponsorships: “Friends of the Fair”.  Booth fees to revert to 2004 prices.  KPBA Members will receive a $25 discount on booth fee.  Entry fee will be reduced from $4 to $1.  Next year the Fair will offer ‘Teen/Youth Night’ with Free Fair admittance on Thursday, carnival will be open that night but will charge.  A trailer has been donated to be utilized at the Fair.

K.P. Comprehensive Plan Committee Report:  Joyce reported that will be open to zoning in the future.

K.P. Community Council Report:

Gig Harbor Chamber Committee Reports:  Next Thursday’s meeting will have a progress report on the Gig Harbor YMCA.
