Present: President Bek Ashby
presiding. Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Dennis Taylor, Jeff Harris, Ed Taylor,
Marty Marcus, Chuck West, Tara Froode, Laurie Ellis and Joyce Tovey.
Meeting called to order at 7:40am
Guest Speakers: None
Secretary’s Report/Corres: It was MSC to approve the
minutes from Nov. 17, 2006. Marty stated that he does
not have an e-mail address and needs his copy sent by postal mail.
Treasurers Report: Balance on hand is $4351
per Dennis Taylor. It was MSC to pay the
$30 monthly website charge for December.
Communications:
Old Business/Committees:
- Nomination and Election of 2007 Officers – Nominations for the
following positions were: President-Jud Morris, Vice President-Claudia
Loy, Secretary-Todd Rosenbach & Barbara Heard (shared position) and
Treasurer- Laurie & Genevieve Ellis (shared position). There were no other nominations from the
floor. It was MSC to accept the
slate of officers as presented.
- Christmas Tree Lighting – The event is
scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3rd at 4:00pm at the KC Corral. Tree decorating will be Saturday, Dec. 2nd
at 9:00am. Show up at 3:30pm the day of the
lighting to help if you can.
- Annual Dinner – The dinner will be at Blondies on January 22nd
at 6:00pm. The cost will be not more than $25 per
person, which includes gratuity. Bar drinks will cost, while individual
KPBA members will donate the beer & wine. Any donations for the silent auction are
gladly accepted
- KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Two meetings coming up are
important for business owners to attend. Dec. 6th, 7:00pm at the KC Library, the sign code draft language will be discussed
On Dec. 9th, 9:00am until 3:00pm at the KP Civic Center, a design charette
(all day workshop) will take place.
This is your opportunity to drop in, make comments and discuss
design ideas. Contact Tara Froode

- Speakers – Marlies Van Cise has agreed to take over the
responsibility of finding guest speakers
- KP Committee Council – Jeff reported that Barb Trotter is the new
president. He said there would be a
future forum on blight.
- Port Orchard Businesses – Bek reported a Lowe’s & Target are
coming to the Sydney/Sedgwick area.
Ed said that the KP News has hired someone for Port Orchard
business advertising. Discussion
ensued regarding our area becoming more boutiques and services as our area
grows.
- KP Fair – Ed reported the fair date was moved a week earlier to
accommodate the carnival, but now the tractor show is unavailable. The park district created a new contract
with new restrictions because of the date change. Joyce will help in reviewing the
contract and drafting a reply
Individual Reports:
Dennis said Safe Streets has hired a new employee starting
Monday, and Dennis has some interviews with the Bill Gates Foundation. Tara had water issues
during the freezing weather. Barb
reported the time and temperature sign now working at Sound Credit Union. Chuck said the fire department is hiring new
paramedics come January. He said they
are also gathering derelict nets at the Purdy Spit. Ed reported a banana belt
at the Westwynd Motel during the freezing weather. Joyce reported hiring two new and
enthusiastic agents. Individual agents are donating to the Children’s Home
Society for the holidays. Ruth reported
that the department does have a Volunteer Fire Fighters Association with 3
people voted out recently. Laurie
reported a lull right now in accounting.
Bek said Santa would be at their Belfair location on Dec. 11,13 & 20 and their Port Orchard location had frozen
pipes. They recently hired a certified
lender for tribal lending. Marty said
the reptiles are cooling down where they still eat, but not as often.
