Minutes for Friday, August 6, 2004

Barb Heard, Dennis Taylor, Marty Marcus, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Ruth
Bramhall, John Biggs, Ed Taylor, Terry & Delia Kaas, Claudia Loy, Bek
Ashby, Al Twidt, Eric Nelsen and Debra McElroy from Keller-Williams Realty.

Secretary’s Report/Corres: MSC to approve the minutes
from 7/16/04. Treasurer’s Report: Balance
on hand is $3391.44
Old Business/Committees:
- KP Community Council – Jeff reported the interim board approved
the election results & began the organization process with creating
articles of incorporation and by laws.
Election of officers is scheduled for Aug. 24th. Jeff made a formal request (letter)
asking the KPBA for $500 to help with the administrative costs of the
council, with a decision to be made at the Sept. 3rd meeting.
- KP Fair –Fred promoted the antique tractor show and the oxen day
camp scheduled for Aug. 14th.
Bek has raffle tickets. John distributed the Exhibitor’s Handbook
(includes entry form). Security,
Parking, and the Fair Store still need volunteer help.
- Business Economic Development – Claudia reported that the Gig
Harbor Chamber is deciding whether they are a community or business based
chamber. After discussion, John
said the KPBA is a service organization, whereas the chamber is not.
- Key Peninsula Community Plan – Jeff
is signed up and Claudia will sign up for a committee. June and Mike Boyle are back up’s, but
their business’s are not on the Key Peninsula.
- KP News – Ed said a publishing committee has been established and
approved by the Civic Center.
- Road Clean Up –Nancy, Bob and Ed were the only volunteers.
New Business:
- Purdy Fruit Stand – Dennis reported the stand is legal and has the
proper permits. Jeff is concerned
about the signage conditions, especially on the Veteran’s Memorial. He will contact Cy
Young.
- Purdy KPBA Welcome Sign – Fred will research the idea of
relocating the sign. Fred will also talk with Lois McMahan about highway
signs designating “Key Peninsula.”
Individual Reports:
- Eric reported the Wauna Fire Station is almost ready for
occupancy. The old station will be
up for sale after they move, with the proceeds going into a reserve
fund. Terry said the Brookside
Restaurant and Lisa’s new restaurant are not having problems with the
Health Dept. Al noticed the dirt is
very dry on his farm. Barb reported on notary publics in Key Center. Bek said North Bay Mortgage is opening another
office in Port Orchard. Dennis said
the Crime Prevention Task Force had 20 people show up at their first
meeting. They discussed the pattern
of hot spots on the Key Peninsula. Fred said a 2002 report showed 15,000
cars a day passed in front of Charboneau Construction
****The August 20th meeting is
cancelled. Everyone will be volunteering
at the Key Peninsula Fair. ***
