Old Business/Committees:

  1. Marketing Committee- Jeff reported there would be a meeting this morning with Ron from North Woods Graphics for the final review.  Although 4000 brochures will be printed, KPBA need only pay for 2000 right now.  Bek reported that the brochure theme will carry onto the website and there would be a more current and accurate membership list.  The after hours at Sunnycrest  was a success.  The owners from the “On The Way” deli attended.  Claudia is concerned because an article in the Tacoma News Tribune about the Key Peninsula did not recognize Key Center.  Claudia also reported that the Key Center Saloon would soon be under new ownership by Greg Callahan.  She also said Kristin Bottiger is planning on opening a women’s fitness center in Key Center.  Jeff said there have been preliminary discussions with Claude Gahard on a grand opening of his winery.  They would like to focus on tours and bringing visitors to the peninsula to generate business.
  2. KP Fair – Bek requested that all remaining raffle tickets, stubs and money be returned to her by August 15th.  Bek also requested that KPBA members help with the fair by volunteering in some way.  Todd volunteered to call members.  Dennis said that the Children’s Home Society could use the gate admission coupon in the Peninsula Light statements.
  3. KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff  reported that land use planning has started.  A few areas want to be rezoned to commercial and other zoning issues were discussed.
  4. KP Community Council – Jeff reported that candidate applications are due by August 12th.
  5. Business/Economic Development Committee –Ed expressed concern with the attitudes displayed by Pierce County in getting permits. An example would be the problems the Lions Club is having in trying to build a picnic shelter at the Home Park.
  6. Meeting Programs – Dennis would like to update the speaker list. Give any ideas for topics or speakers to Dennis.
  7. Road Clean Up – Michelle has picked up the equipment and will conduct the road clean up tomorrow, August 6th.
