minutes from July 7, 2006.
Treasurers Report: Balance on hand is $5261.06
per Dennis Taylor.
Communications:
Old Business/Committees:
- Marketing Committee- Jeff said we need to promote our
website. Dennis, Jeff and the Fire
Station have a supply of the brochures if needed. Bek said more brochures would probably
need reprinted next spring.
- After Hours – Blondies is willing to host this event with Monday,
Sept. 18th recommended.
There was discussion regarding the KPBA paying for this and
allowing $300 from our treasury.
- KP Fair – Bek heard the fair would probably break even and
proposed having our profits stay with the fair. Discussion ensued regarding LIC hourly
obligation base consumed by the fair, the three board groups meeting to
discuss the fair and asking for volunteers to be on the fair board for the
coming year. Barb, Ruth, Bek and
Debra McElroy volunteered. Many
agreed that the fair is about community, which was evident this year. A party for the fair volunteers is set
for August 12th at the park.
Mary Graves submitted her resignation.
- Selling Membership – Bek brought up the subject of selling labels
with names and addresses because her business buys from various
chambers. General agreement was
“no” since our names and addresses are already on the web.
- Presentations By Entities Wanting to Market To Us – The general
discussion was that most speakers are providing community information or
information that enhances our businesses.
The consensus was to have those entities join KPBA and give an
individual report.
- Speakers – Dennis has scheduled Terry Lee for August, Kim Hails
for September and wants ideas for speakers or topics.
- KP Comprehensive Plan Committee – Jeff reported Rob Orton would be
the speaker at their next meeting.
Signage was discussed. It
was suggested that the KPBA recommend certain areas be set-aside for
political party signs and find out who coordinates this. Tara has copies of the sign codes. Debra, Chuck, Jeff & Lynn would be
on Tara’s sign committee. It was
also stated that this is not just about signage, but also about design
presentation of the area in the next 20 years.
- KP Community Council – Positions are open for all areas with a
deadline for filing of August 11.
The election is Sept. 9th. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to
run.
