Additions to the agenda:

  1. Partners for Youth (Camp Seymour Fundraiser) & Citizens Against Crime Contribution: These subjects were added as separate items to the agenda, but are listed together as a result of discussions centering around the KPBA’s recently adopted policy relating to Community Support provided by the association. Both of these groups have solicited community support from the KPBA. However, providing funding for groups on a continuous basis appears to be in conflict with parameters outlined in the new policy. The committee responsible for drafting the new policy will re-convene in order to address the apparent inconsistencies.
  2. Livable Community Fair: The Livable Community Fair will be held on Saturday, May 13, at the Civic Center. KPBA members may provide materials to be placed on display at the association booth. Volunteers are welcome to assist in manning the booth. Jeff Harris is the contact person, and can be reached at 884-4697.
  3. Upcoming Speakers: The June speaker will be presenting information on bridge tolls.
  4. Peninsula High School Senior Projects: Contact Dennis Taylor if you’re interested in participating in the school’s senior project presentations. It’s an incredible experience giving area students an opportunity to highlight a few of their many accomplishments.

Business/Committee Reports:

  1. Marketing: The committee has selected RS Enterprises as the website designer and provider. Make sure to forward any updated materials to Dennis, or directly to Russ Holster. Russ’ e-mail is rse@gigharbor.com , and links can be found at the following website, www.gigharbor.com .
  2. Road Clean Up: Thank you Barb, Michelle, and crew for your commitment. The small crew did a great job.
  3. KP Fair: Sponsorship solicitation efforts are just beginning. All members are welcome to both sponsor the fair, and assist in finding additional sponsors. Many of the other sub-committees would benefit from additional volunteers. The Security Committee is looking for a new chairperson.
  4. Comprehensive Plan Committee: Currently wrapping up the transportation element. Issues discussed include the power line road and projected costs to turn it into a county road, and how growth projections and carrying capacity figures for the local roads fail to account for the fact that many of the local roads do not meet the current standards on which the carrying capacity has been based.
  5. Community Council: The logging forum was well received. The next forum will address community blight.
