Minutes for Friday, April
16, 2004

Present: Marv & Myrtle Keizur,
Barb Heard, Ruth Bramhall, Dennis Taylor, Fred & Mary Ramsdell, Terry &
Delia Kaas, Joe Rhea, Ed Taylor, Lois McMahan, Bek Ashby, Erlene Twidt, Ross
Bischoff, Derek Kilmer.
Guest Speakers: Pat Lantz, District 26
Representative, gave an informative talk on various subjects including domestic
violence, transportation, DNR parkland, education, WASL tests & charter
schools.
Secretary’s Report/Corres: MSC to approve the minutes
from 04/02/04. Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $3782.13
Old Business/Committees:
- Community Council – Ruth gave several local locations where survey
boxes are located for entering registrations for the June 26th
vote. These include the KC Library,
KC Fire Station, Peninsula Markets, Texaco & Lu Lu’s Homeport
Restaurant.
- KP Fair – Fred said vendor applications are available and coming
in. Agri-Vision is expanding and
there will be a Thursday night Youth Night.
- KP Livable Community Fair – Dennis said the KPBA has a table set
aside and literature pertaining to your business is needed. Volunteers to man this table are also
needed.
- Business Economic Development – Derek said the GH Chamber has a
separate web site for businesses and monthly roundtables are scheduled for
specific business types. A focus of
this group is business retention and expansion.
- Scholarship Committee –Two recipients have been chosen.
- Road Clean Up –Cancelled until summer.
- MSC that any person who lets their cell phone ring during a
meeting will pay a fine, the amount of the fine to be determined later.
- KPBA Website – Ed reported it is in test mode and will soon go
public.
New Business:
1. DNR
Property – Ed said committee members have been working with the DNR the past
few years on trying to obtain the land surrounding Horseshoe Lk. Golf
Course. Several major groups would lease
the property for their events.
Individual Reports:
- Fred said donated fire trucks will be driven to Guatemala. 2. Mary emphasized the “treasures” that
can be found at Angel Guild. 3. Erlene has llamas for sale and IM PACT is
discovering monetary needs for odds and ends. Furniture & household
items are needed too, although storage space is lacking. 4. Some of Terry
Kaas’s work is hanging in Key Center. 5. Marv is now working on extensions
and planning to move his business to his home. 6. Barb has loan promotions
at Sound CU. 7. June is losing an employee at Key Bank 8. Ruth reminded
everyone of the Fishermens Breakfast on April 25th. 9. Dennis
said a Crime Prevention Task Force, specific to our area, is being created
with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Dept. 10. Lois said campaign season is
officially open. 11. Ross has fresh
rhubarb for sale. 12. Bek’s
business does non-conforming mortgage lending. 13. Joe said a Burger King
is supposed to be coming to the area.
