Meeting Minutes for Friday, October 19, 2007

Secretary’s Report: It was MSC to approve the meeting minutes dated 10/05/2007.

 

Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report will be presented at the next breakfast meeting.

 

Today’s guest speakers: Glen Ehrhardt and Shad Gates, Harvest Timber Company.

Glen Ehrhardt, the owner of Harvest Timber Company, introduced the membership to his company headquartered on the Key Peninsula.  Shad Gates heads up the company’s flooring division, also presented information.

 

Company Highlights:

The company is comprised of 2 divisions, Pioneered Wood Flooring, and Specialty, Timber, Truss and Siding. Both divisions focus on quality products that are not easily mass produced.

 

Harvest Timber’s products are manufactured throughout the US, utilizing local businesses that are focused on the use of regionally available materials

 

Harvest Timber also assists these partners in marketing their products

 

The company’s customer base is largely builder direct

 

Values:

Harvest Timber believes in strong community values. This includes:

Quality of life for employees and the community

Focus on supporting local businesses

Volunteerism in schools, churches, and the community at large

The Mustard Seed Project

 The Mustard Seed Project’s letter thanking the KPBA for its monetary support was received.

 

Agricultural Committee

The Agricultural Committee would like to request sponsorship by the association. It was agreed that the KPBA would reserve the next lunch meeting for discussion.

 

Lunch Meetings  

The November 16th will be at the Horseshoe Lake Golf Course. December’s Lunch Meeting will be a social event.

Individual Reports:

Jud Morris: The Children’s Home Society is beginning their holiday gift and donation drive for local families. Call 884-5433 to contribute.

 

Danna Webster: The Key Peninsula Community Council and the Harvest Fest are exploring partnerships.  The KP News is studying the publication of twice monthly issues and expanding seasonal supplements.

 

Ruth Bramhall: The Fair Board’s recent meeting did not have quorum. The next meeting will be held at the Civic Center on Tuesday, November 13th, at 6:30pm.

 

Lois McMahan: Has placed four exchange students in local schools.

 

Al Yanity:  Blackberry wine took top honors Sons of Italy Wine Competition in Tacoma.

 

Barbara Heard: Sound Credit Union made it through the recent robbery reasonably well given the circumstances.

 

Scot Gallacher: Please attend the upcoming meeting to support the acquisition of local properties. A separate e-mail will be sent with important information.

 

Andrea Jerabek: Safe Street’s new office is located in the Key Center Fire Station.

 

Betty Jopp: BoMac has experienced a great first year.

 

Bek Ashby: Interest rates continue to be favorable.

 

Ross Bischoff: Come try the local fresh cider available at the farm.

 

Tara Froode: Ravensara will be offering soups.

 

Claude Gahard: Trillium Creek provides holiday wine baskets, featuring local items.

 

Marlies Van Cise: Travel House is planning a mid-winter cruise to the Mexican Riviera.

 

Edie Morgan: The Mustard seed Project’s Senior Information Center is open from 10 to 1 every day.

 

Ed Taylor: Business demand remains strong.

 

Don Tjossem: Funds are available for gambling addiction treatment.

 

Marty Marcus: The reptiles will make a Halloween appearance at Civic Center.

 

Tom and Julie Boardman: Appreciate all the local support and referrals.
