Come for a visit. Stay for a lifetime.

Breakfast Meeting: February 5, 2016 @ 7:30AM

Present: Tracey Oliveira, Barb Heard, Frank Grubaugh, Todd Rosenbach, Laurie Ellis, Mike Fay, Dick Kelly, Marcia Harris, Scott Gallacher, Ruth Bramhall, Ted Olinger (KP News), Edie Morgan, Rosina Vertz, Dana Webster and Mary Williams.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes for January 8, 2016 were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $15252.49. Total members=76. Approved as presented.

Old Business:

Dinner Feedback: Great food, nice tables and well coordinated by the event planner, Jacques Henry, of JDH Events. Suggestions for the future: better PA system, keep the casual format, and promote the KPBA more.

Brochure Committee Update: Per Scott, printing costs were $1533. Chuck Ellis did a great job on the graphic design and needs to invoice the KPBA for his work. Some suggested a larger map, but that would increase the cost per Scott, which he will check into for future possibility. One of the bigger challenges was verifying everybody’s information per Todd.

Auction Committee Update: Rosina gave a big thank you to Jessica Wisberger for all her hard work and organizational skills, and felt the quantity of items was just right for the size of the function. Total = $2051.

Dessert Auction Update: Barb reported a nice variety plus a couple of extra desserts, which Rosina liked, as it gave the last to choose tables more choices. Total=$1451.

Parks Dept 4th of July Hot Dog Social: Motion was approved to spend $500 for this event, receiving advertising in numerous ways.

Harbor Wild Watch Request: Motion was approved to become a member, as a group, for $50.00.

Committee for Updates to the Bylaws and Donation Policies: The committee will include Laurie Ellis, Tracey Oliveira & Mary Williams.

New Business:

Scholarship Committee: Barb reported the committee will meet in March to choose the recipients. Any KPBA member that has an affiliation with a senior at PHS, who submitted a scholarship notebook and is within the selection process guidelines, inform the committee for additional consideration.

Tax Category Change: Todd reported the KPBA is a 501(c)6 organization and not a 501(c)3. This means we are a business organization and need to engage in that kind of behavior. This is becoming an issue as our budget increases. Motion was approved to move all sponsorship’s that are advertising based into “Advertising” on the budget.

Individual Business Reports:

Barb H: Attended a brief workshop on understanding hoarding and it’s guidelines, presented by Pierce County.

Frank G: Keith Davies will now represent the KP Fire Commissioners at KPBA meetings. Stan Moffett replaced Claudia Jones, who did a wonderful job as a fire commissioner for several years. Ruth B: The Sportsman’s Club has a new dishwasher and a new grill is coming.

Todd R: Thanked all those who helped at the dinner, leaving him some free time to have some fun.

Laurie E: Tax season is here. Mike F: Glad to be “here” after some health issues late last year.

Edie M: Celebrating Mustard Seed’s 10th Anniversary in February. The Senior Housing Project has put an offer on land across from the Roadhouse Restaurant. They would like to purchase the restaurant for the community cafe, but would have to make that a community project to help raise funds.

Ted O: New editor for the KP News starting March. They are looking for more ad reps and columnists.

Rosina V: Taking book donations and the computer classes are doing well.

Dick K: The KP Veterans bricks are in and will be installed this month. Preparing for Memorial Day Aisle of Honor.

Marcia H: Reminded all to get your ballots in by Feb. 9th. The school board will start interviewing superintendent candidates in March and will make it a public process when interviewing the finalists.
